Finding a specific clip to copy shot for shot with foreshadow is quite difficult because most are at different points in the film or if not they are hard to find the scene you are looking for. Therefore instead of doing one scene I think I am going to do 2 linking scenes and miss out the section in the middle because otherwise it will be too long to film.
I am going to copy scream where the character walks past the door and it feels as though something scary is going to happen but instead nothing does which makes it seem like a red-herring but then later in the same place we thought something was going to happen the creepy character jumps out the same wardrobe. I will use the same setup and technique however will have to be slightly different to make it possible to film well.
original clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFbxip5WIIw&t=149s I used this clip on a different blog post to show different ways you can use the techniques and have decided to use it because I like how it is done.
Shot list:
- Wide moving shot following Casey downstairs and to the closet camera movement stops whilst she puts things in the closet and continues to follow her from behind after.
- As she sits down it is a medium shot from the front, the camera isn’t still but moves slightly as she does.
- Wide-shot from behind showing her and the tv at the same time.
- Back to medium shot of her from front.
- Close up of tv.
- camera pushes forward on her from front.
- Pushes in on tv.
- close up of her.
- Walks out the room camera in front of her with a wide-shot.
This is the red herring.
- medium shot of Casey on the phone
- Close up of her unlocking front door
- close up of her on the phone from left side of her
- panning shot of outside.
- medium shot of Casey still on the phone
- Close up shot of her talking to Ghost-face
- medium panning shot of her running back inside and closing door then stares out window. Door opens in shot behind her and Ghost-face jumps out, Casey turns around.
- Over the shoulder shot from behind Ghost-face as he tries to stab her.
Equipment I think is used:
- Steadi-cam
- hand held
- tripod
- maybe shoulder rig
My version: Film someone walking down the stairs and around the corner, add music to the edit which makes the moment more tense like something is going to happen but then the music fades out after they have gone past the corner where someone will jump out the next time she/he walks past. Film the character coming from a different direction ie through the front door and down the stairs where something will jump out and attack her. When editing it will make sense because the music will make it more tense and hopefully create the same tension as in scream. This is my initial idea however I will try and expand on it the more I think about it and see what works and what doesn’t.
